The Further Education (FE) Showcase provides an opportunity for delegates to engage in research and evidence relevant to teaching in the post-14 Further Education and Skills sector.

Join academics from the Discipline of Humanities to hear them present cutting-edge and innovative research they have conducted on a wide range of themes. 

The MA three-minute dissertation competition provides an opportunity for our postgraduate students on the MA English, MA Global Affairs and Politics and MA History programmes to deliver research presentations in just three minutes and with one slide. 

The Postgraduate Researcher Showcase has speakers from across the humanities presenting an overview or one aspect in detail of their in-progress PhD projects.

As a part of their degree, second-year Literature and History students take part in an annual public conference, where they present a series of papers based around the theme of Power, Authority and Subversion.

This year’s annual Inclusion Conference is focused on Cultural Intelligence (CQ). We will explore how we use cultural intelligence to cross boundaries and engage with communities. We will discover how cultural intelligence enables us to interact in unfamiliar settings with confidence and assurance, recognising cultural differences and adapting. 

Due to the demand for sonographers to train in DVTs and carotids regionally, we would like to encourage sonographers to take an interest in this study day. The event will consist of introductory lectures followed by two demonstration sessions featuring live scanning of volunteers.

After a few years of hibernation, we are thrilled to announce that the University of Derby's Nature Connections Conference will return in 2024. This event will bring together researchers and practitioners interested in nature connection to share and discuss the latest research, ideas, and applications in the field.

This week long Research Methods Summer School offers workshop sessions covering topics from non-traditional data collection, Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA), reflexive Thematic Analysis, scale development and validation, moderation and mediation, and systematic review and meta-analysis. 

This face-to-face session will introduce non-traditional data collection methods including photovoice/elicitation and media resources including YouTube videos, newspapers and television shows.
